Allyson Jones, DVM

Meet Dr. Jones

Originally from Washington, D.C., Dr. Allyson Jones developed an interest in veterinary medicine through childhood visits to the National Zoo and a nature camp at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute. Seeing conservation medicine in action inspired her to pursue a career connecting animal health, public health, and community care.

Dr. Jones earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Society with a concentration in One Health from Cornell University in 2019. She graduated with Distinction in Research and was selected as a Doris Duke Conservation Scholar. She later earned her veterinary degree from the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2025, where she completed the Global Veterinary Certificate Program and became Fear Free certified in small-animal and shelter medicine.

Before joining Cape Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Jones completed a year-long mixed-animal internship in North Texas, receiving advanced training in surgery, general practice, ambulatory medicine, and internal medicine for both small and large animals. Her background also includes emergency and critical care, wildlife rehabilitation, shelter medicine, and community-based veterinary clinics. She is passionate about providing personalized, accessible veterinary medicine and strengthening the human-animal bond.

Outside of work, Dr. Jones enjoys crocheting, reading books and comics, collecting vinyl records, listening to music, and going to the movies. She shares her home with two domestic shorthair cats, Emile and Junie B.
