Meet Dr. Froehlich

Dr. Jacob Froehlich joined Cape Veterinary Hospital in August 2022. His broad veterinary experience includes caring for small animals, farm animals, exotic mammals, and reptiles. His favorite part of being a veterinarian is strengthening the human-animal bond through evidence-based medicine, thoughtful communication, and collaborative care.

Dr. Froehlich graduated summa cum laude from North Dakota State University in 2009 with a degree in Vertebrate Zoology. He continued his education at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in Massachusetts. During veterinary school, he received several honors, including the Small Animal Surgery Award and the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Large Animal Internal Medicine Award.

His professional interests include small- and large-animal internal medicine, with a particular interest in ruminant neonatology. He also enjoys small-animal emergency medicine, large-animal primary care, exotic mammal medicine, and reptile medicine.

Dr. Froehlich is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Bovine Practitioners, American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners, Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, and Association of Avian Veterinarians.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Froehlich enjoys attending dog, cat, and livestock shows, exploring fine dining, and watching favorites such as Star Wars, Star Trek, and Yellowstone. He also loves spending time at his home, affectionately known as “Dumstark,” with his diverse family of dogs, cats, sheep, and goats.
